Great breakfast... Loved our waitress! Wish I could recall her name but the entire waitstaff was very nice. Had wanted to have dinner there but the close very early in the spring..., 4pm so plan accordingly. Had the crab cakes for breakfast..., the were Devine! Can't wait to go back

my review is strictly on the fact that this place takes to DAMN LOOOONNGGG!!! I have no doubt that the food might b great but we got seated, my uncle got the menus for us, the "server/hostess" finally came to us after 10-15 mins of being seated... we have been waiting for 45+ mins for our food! well good thing I don't live in this town lol when we finally got our meal... they apologized which was a nice gesture, but as we thanked for our meal, I ordered the brisket and beans. the beans tasted nasty. as my boyfriend said chemically? i dont know they just tasted gross to me.... the brisket was tender and cooked correctly but i dont know if it was sitting too long or what but it was cold & tasted bland. oooh and they ran out of chili at like 2pm? when u know you're about to run shouldn't someone start to make more? plus it cost a lot of money for not that of food! I'm sorry for the people who live there, but trust when I say I will definitely not visiting again.

Good food with a wide variety of choices. I had a homemade veggi burger that was ver nice, but they have all the seaside fare.

Decided to try Vivian's after always driving by & also based on the great ratings here on Yelp. The place was cute & clean; the staff was very friendly & attentive. The menu was daunting -- WAY too many choices. Our food was hot & good but very bland. I've never had to add salt to a sandwich before. Definitely not fan of the super sweet BBQ sauce. We'll be checking this place off our list.

Breakfast was really good .. Not fantastic... A great find in Lincoln city, shared a German pancake with the table ... Great idea! Go ... Enjoy. Probably a 5 star if compared to other places in Licoln City only.

Service was good, food was ok. My mom said the fish and chips were the best she ever had but I was a little disappointed that the "dinner rolls" were actually biscuits. Biscuits don't go so well with a so-so Caesar salad.

I met a friend of mine who is a local at another spot. I told him that we went there for food...and he said "yeah, I heard it's not very good." That underwhelming statement simplifies the experience. It just wasn't very good. I am not sure why the other two people gave them 5 stars, but I will explain my experience with my wife. First off, the place is very open, but not in a very good way. The floors and walls echo conversations WAAAAYYYY to well. I could understand conversations occurring across the room, which made it very uncomfortable for my wife and I to talk to each other. We actually conversed about the place well after we got back into the car...we thought that maybe the rocks outside the place that were in the parking lot might have been strategically placed to echo sound as well...anywho... So we decided to split a BBQ plate. We got the chicken, brisket, and ribs. The two sides were beans and potato salad. First, the brisket. That needs to be slow cook MUCH longer than it was. Brisket should be cooked slow and long to get all the fat to melt into the brisket. The fat did not dissolve, leaving a very dry and chewy piece of meat. Next was the ribs. Now, I am not going to claim to be an expert in cooking ribs. I have cooked them a few times, and I have eaten quite a few ribs around this great land of ours. One thing is constant: there needs to be a rub. This didn't have one. At all. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Nichts. That is entry level wrong. The meat was also as dry as the brisket. Finally the chicken. That was OK. Chicken doesn't require the long slow cooking, so it was just fine, but kind of meh. The highlight was the BBQ sauce, which was actually pretty good. Too bad it couldn't help fix the issues with the meats. And I won't go into the sides. They just weren't very good. Very basic stuff that you could get from any grocery store and heat up. Sad really. The dessert, a chocolate mousse torte, was also a fail. To make matters worse, I ordered the Black Butte Porter. Now, I have had this in bottles before, and one time I left a bottle out at home and it got warm, then I put it back in the fridge. It ended up tasting like it was filtered through grass clippings in a dirty sweat sock. Take a guess on how the BBP tasted here? I am willing to guess what happened... As we ate, both of us noticed that people there ate off of the main menu rather than the BBQ menu. I can see why. But I don't think it would be worth going back to find out.

Wow what a great find. My wife had the Bills Burger and I had the vegeburger. Both were excellent. You coouldnt ask for more personable service and friendly staff. Be sure to save room for dessert or at least get a piece of pie to go. Thats what we did. They don't skimp on the slices they are huge!!

  • Karen D.

The menu has a great variety and the seafood and BBQ are equally delicious. There was something on the menu for everyone and all were happy with their meals. The atmosphere is very uplifting and the service fantastic. Our family of eight stopped in without a reservation and were seated in a semiprivate room with Vivian at the next table. Would highly recommend!

  • Chris C.

We were supremely disappointed. From the reviews it appeared we could expect at least good bbq. It was borderline intolerable. Sat in the smoker too long to just become dried out. The rub had very little flavor and the beans were pretty bad too.

I like the food here. I don't love it, but I like it. I have only had breakfast here, so I cannot say anything on behalf of their lunch menu. Service was really good and food came out fast. I would go back again.

  • Travis W.

Breakfast here was fantastic! I had oatmeal (very good) and a "Texas - sized" bannana nut muffin shaped like a heart. My wife had a omelette/patato scramble that was really good. The restaurant itself is pretty plain, but the service was very friendly and we had a good time. Food was top notch for breakfast.

  • Jenny W.

We agree with Steve W. We ate here back in July 2010 and were left disappointed. The food was dry and tasteless and overpriced.

Have eaten breakfast here a few times mediocre at best and horrible at worst, kept thinking it would get better with my next visit. It did not so will not be returning

Best breakfast I've had in a long time! Skillet, omelet, homemade biscuits, country gravy, pancakes and bacon ALL GREAT!!

  • Barbara R.

Yummy lunch. Halibut fish and chips were a little oily but good. Chips were excellent. Crab and shrimp melt was very filling. Could have done without the mayo mixed in but what the heck; I'm on vacation. Service was friendly and good but not fast, just don't be in a hurry.

Vivian's restaurant/Bill' Barbeque is one of our favorite restaurants in Lincoln City. We always make it a point to eat there 3-4 times each summer while we're here on the coast. For lunch today I had the vegetarian grilled veggies with their balsamic vinegar dressing. AWESOME! I will definitely go back for more. The atmosphere at the restaurant is casual and comfortable. Everything is immaculately clean, including the bathrooms.

  • Erin M.

16 oz Mimosas? Hells yeah! Breakfast was great! Puffy Pancake was a show stopper, crab benedict was piled high with Dungeness crab and totally worth it at $15.95 best breakfast in Lincoln City hands down.

  • John M.

First thing for everyone, they are a traditional style restaurant and they admit they take a little longer but it's that your food isn't fast food quality, it's what you'd make at home. We started with an appetizer. The BBQ meat balls were quite good. Traditional hand made meatballs with a BBQ sauce that has a bit of a kick. My spicy BBQ burger had good flavor with jalapeños. Actually lacked the 'spicy' part but had very flavorful meat. As a whole, better than any burger I've gotten at Red Robin. French fries were freshly made and traditional. The wife's 'Chicken in a Garlic Creme Sauce' (Garlic Chicken Alfredo) was good as well. Chicken was very juicy, actual chunks of garlic not just garlic powder. The creme sauce (Alfredo) was perfect, not overpowering and heavy but also not overly light. Definitely a place we will be coming back to. 1 app & 2 dinners - $32

Super friendly service, delicious homemade biscuits and a changing table in the bathroom. I have found my breakfast on the beach! Also, I have eggs over medium with kielbasa and a homemade biscuit. It is amazing to me how often eggs over medium are eggs over hard. These were perfect-the white around the yolk was completely cooked and the yolk was still a little runny. Perfect. The kielbasa was flavorful. The waiter kept us fully caffeinated the entire time.

Wow. This place had great food and our waitress was awesome! Super friendly and wonderful place to enjoy breakfast.

I don't know how we missed this great little place over the years. I kept driving by, but never stopped until today. After the wonderful lunch we had today, we'll be back again! BBQ brisket sandwich was delicious and the mild spicy sauce had the right blend of sweet and spice. The side dishes were all wonderful...bbq beans, homemade potato salad and really delicious coleslaw. We'll definitely be back to try more items on their menu!

Pretty standard "greasy spoon" breakfast place. Tried it because our usual place was closed and was not impressed.

    (2)
  • Kindra D.

We were in the mood for good barbecue when we popped into this restaurant while on vacation. We were disappointed. The wait staff were short handed and it rattled the servers so that our food arrive wrong several times, the BBQ was dry and the side dishes were mediocre at best. The staff was friendly enough, but the recurring visits with food not ordered were beyond what could be called comical. We will pass on this restaurant next time we are in town.

Delicious food and really friendly staff! Was here during my sister's bridal party beach retreat. I'd come back!

Delicious food!!! Located in Lincoln city. They offer a wonderful breakfast and dinner with everything you could want including veggie options and pie. Just love this place.

A group of 9 of us stopped by for lunch. The staff was warm and welcoming. The food was amazing. It was so good we came back the next day. We all ordered different things and all was delicious! We will make this stop a part of our annual beach trip.

My husband and I waited to be seated for a long time without being greeted with half the tables empty. The waitress waited on parties of four who walked in the door after we had been seated. We finally waved her down and asked to order. My chicken salad came without chicken but we could not get the attention of the waitress (there were five other tables). We ran out of drinks half way through dinner and they were never refilled (not even water). After waiting for a long time after finishing dinner we finally asked for the check. The waitress had plenty of time to chat with friends while we sat there. We used to enjoy and frequent this restaurant, but the personnel and food has changed. These locals will not eat there again.

What a pleasant experience! The elderly gentleman that works here is so nice! And with my husband having a dairy allergie they were nothing but accommodating. Big portions I could not finish my plate. I recommend the French Toast if your hungry. 3 giant pieces of Texas style french toast. Yummy! We will be back.

    (5)
  • Cam G.

The food was pretty good. Service great. The chicken fried steak was missing some seasoning, but the clam chowder was great. The french toast had a nice kick, thick but not dense. Their bacon was absolutely on hit. Wife loved the kielbasa and they were even nice enough to slice it and put it on a roll.

  • Kirsten G.

We went here for breakfast on a recommendation, and we LOVED our meals! We had omelets, which were fluffy and stuffed with veggies, Belgian waffles, which had the sweetest taste of vanilla, and ribs, which feel of the bone. The potatoes, biscuits, and homemade apple butter were all muy delicious! And to top it off, the service was absolutely perfect. We'll definitely be back again.

  • Emily T.

This place was great the last time we came in. We got sandwiches and the pulled pork was some of the best that I had had. The brisket was good, but fiance makes a brisket that is pretty hard to beat :) I absolutely recommend this place, it is a necessary stop every time we need lunch in Lincoln City! If you are looking for a great place to eat that is well priced, stop here!

We stopped in for lunch at 11:00 am on a Sunday. Even though they had not started lunch service they were kind enough to allow us to order it. We both had burgers and fries. The burgers were quite good and the fries were fine---and they served up a huge order of them. It also came with interesting pickled carrot slices on the side. I really like them, but hubby didn't---so I got his. We wanted to try the clam chowder, but it wasn't ready yet. I would like to stop by again and try that and some dessert.

We were the bikers that came in the other day, my wife and I. We were promptly seated, and then stared at. When it felt like it was obvious that we were not leaving we were given water and our order was placed. The food was decent, the pulled pork had a bit more chew to it, but the smoke flavor was great. I know we were there during the church crowd, and were 180 degrees from your clientele. The next time I drive to the coast, we will see... The biker, who put on over 700 miles for charity in the last year, in the rain, in the sun and the snow.... Tony

Wow so disappointed... I have passed this place many times as I vacation in LC and finally stopped in. The restaurant was busy but we were sat quickly. Orders were taken and we waited... and waited... and waited. After 30 mins our waiter came by and said "the cooks haven't forgot about you out should be soon". After 3 other tables who came in after us got their food (including a party 4x our size) I complained. Finally the waiter admitted he had forgotten to place our order. I advised we were in a hurry and had no choice but take it to go... another employee came by and said we would compensated in some way. After 45 mins we get our foods in a box and a check for $35. They took off.my coffee and my bf's cranberry juice. Ummm no thanks! No compensation, no honesty, not coming back!!!

Real good wraps and the have a great veggie burger. Great service. Easy access and very clean.

  • T C.

Over priced for the amount of crab on my Crab Benedict . The waiter complained about having a difficult day the whole time and said "I can't seem to get away from you two" My husband's skillet breakfast was fine. I would not go back and I don't recommend it.

  • Janet M.

We ate here twice during our Lincoln City trip this past week, that's how much my in laws liked it. The service was a little bit on the slow side, but friendly. The breakfast was great, everybody liked everything. Potatoes, coffee, biscuits, eggs ( mine were perfectly poached), all good. FIL said it was the most moist tender ham steak he's ever eaten. He ate it both times. The second time I had pulled pork and potato salad ( the only lunch eater in the group) and it was pretty good. I thought the barbecue sauce was on the bland side, but the pork had a nice smoky flavor and was tender. This wasn't a bad choice for our family meals out.

  • Scott M.

Okay dinner like eatery on Highway #1. If BBQ is a must, the choices aren't plentiful in the area - so this may be the place. Atmosphere 70 Clean and plain. Service 70 Horrific Food 75 Brisket was just okay Value 70 Probably overpriced Generally eating out isn't the greatest in the area so this place passes. There are better choices. The ice cream was good!

  • Lindsay H.

Delicious barbecue! We stopped here on a whim and were so pleased with the results! I had the brisket with BBQ beans and potato salad-- my husband had the 1/2 chicken with the soup of the day and fries. Catherine was our server and what a sweetheart! Great service, great food-- what a fun little stop! We would highly recommend!

  • Kory C.

The waitress had an attitude from the start. Don't ask for katsup, you'll get an eye roll. Other than that, food was good. Large portions. Cute environment.

  • Michelle M.

I had the pear salad and the lettuce was old . The garlic mashed potatoes were very dry. The barbecue was good. I would not recommend this restraunt.

Tuna melt was okay if you like a lot of onion, pickle and celery. My Mom had the brisket sandwich and it was extremely dry. This is our third try here and the food is not horrible but not worth the prices for sure!!!

  • Erik R.

I think I went to a different restaurant than others who posted here! I went here on a rainy afternoon on a Thursday, in the mood for some BBQ, my favorite food. Saw the smoker out front and I got so excited! I wasn't super hungry, and wasn't up for a $20 plate of brisket, so the waitress said I could order off of the seniors menu instead. For $9.00 it was comparable to a brisket lunch plate in Portland, so I figured it would be enough. Wrong. It was literally three bites of meat (microwaved, tough and chewy) and seven French fries. Seriously. I counted. Seven French fries. It's been a long time since I've had such a bad meal, and was the worst barbecue I've ever eaten in my life. I will never go back here again.

  • JP D.

The waitress really talked up the crab cake breakfast so both my wife and I ordered it. The crab cakes were just OK. Nothing special especially considering the price @ $18.95. The potatoes were inconsistent. Some parts were crispy and delicious, some parts were undercooked and greasy, and some parts approached burned. My eggs were cooked pretty well. The service was attentive and our waitress friendly. The homemade four-berry jam was excellent and my wife's biscuit good. The place was clean and the portions generous but the food quality did not match up with the prices. BTW I saw another patron return her food and heard a waitress explain that the usual cook was out and that the temp was struggling so that may explain the potatoes but the crab cake recipe was fundamentally flawed in my opinion - too much binder and seasoning vs. crab meat. Would not rule the place out for second try - especially to give the BBQ a chance but for breakfast I probably won't be back.

  • LaShawn P.

I had to wait an extra 15 minutes after everyone else at the table got their food. The waitress did not seem very apologetic. The food was good. Bloody Mary was ok!!

  • Pamela Y.

We had breakfast and it was pretty good. Basic eggs hashbrowns, etc... My husband had the Kabasa sausage. It was GREAT! Good service no problem there. Small place with close seats. No booths. I might try this place again.

We have been coming to Lincoln City for years and have always tried to get into Vivian and Bills, but with their limited days open (Thurs, Fri, & Sat) it's been a little difficult. Well finally tonight we made it and so glad we did... Dinner was excellent! Started off with the "crab-choky" (crab and artichoke) dip appetizer. "YUM" Daughter had the shrimp & crab louie, Wife had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw, and I had the "trio", ribs, chicken and brisket w/ home made potato salad and clam chowder. This was one of the best dinners we've had in Lincoln city in a long time. Highly recommend a stop when you're in town. Oh, and if that wasn't enough, we shared the peanut butter/chocolate pie, and the marion berry cheesecake. (Gee, get me a wheel barrow and roll me to the car please) :) A very good pour on the "adult beverage's" :) Excellent service! And if you were wondering... Yes, we will return. Enjoy!!!

  • Tami P.

Very good food!! Very generous portions. We went on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy and we still didn't have a super long wait for our food. I loved the fries. The house coffee was tasty. We will be back to try more than the Caesar wrap and the huge Cinnamon roll and the double burger .

  • Marcia S.

My husband and I ate breakfast there this am. My husband had the crab Benedict and sait it melted in his mouth. It was very good but the hollandaise could have used some hot sauce and the eggs were over cooked. The potatoes were good. I had a 3 egg omelet w/spinach and mushrooms, avocado and sour cream. It was a very good omelet. The reason this place didn't get 4 or 5 stars is because our server seemed a bit put out because of my dietary restrictions. She was an older woman and I suspect it was Vivian but couldn't guarantee it. After we ordered, she only addressed my husband and looked at him. We decided I would be the one that paid the check and left the tip, just to send a message. Don't know if she got the message.

We felt compelled to write this review because it was such a pleasant experience, top to bottom. No- the food doesn't knock your socks off, but it is excellent. We enjoyed everything we tried. I got a cup of chowder which much much smoother and creamier than any I have had before. It literally stuck to the spoon!. There were large chunks of clam also.At first I thought, it's good but I have had many better. But then it grows on you. By the time my wife and I finished we were scraping the bowl to get the last bit. We both got Bill's BarBQ. I got a sampler with fall apart brisket, pulled pork, kielbasa, nicely grilled and sliced, and meatballs. My wife had smoked turkey. They serve with a sweet sauce and a slightly spicy sauce. We mixed the two together and it was perfect. All the food was tasty an tender and there was plenty. Now the service- they had no idea who we were but you would have thought we were family. Our waitress was an absolute doll. Friendly, helpful and you could tell she loved her job. Service was fast and efficient, tea glasses kept full and conversation was fun and informative. That said- I would tell you to GO THERE. They serve breakfast (which we will try on a future visit) smoked BBQ where they do the smoking and many other menu items. Check it out!

  • Sandy S.

Great sides! Coleslaw, baked beans and fries. Their chowder is amazing (get the garlic bread)! It sticks to the spoon, it's so thick and creamy. Pulled pork and ribs were all good. You can get a couple different sauces so you can choose your poison, since it's dry smoked. Service was friendly and expected time, given the small town feel. Support your local beach town!

    (4)
  • Frances L.

Decided to try this place it for lunch today. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was decent. The chowder was actually really good, but the service was so so slow!! Not sure what the deal was, but it took us almost an hour to get a bbq brisket sandwich w/chowder and a Vivian's salad. I did like the salad. It was a good size and had lots of chicken.

    (3)
  • Leah M.

Super yummy and somewhat large portions. The smoky flavor though is a little to much. The pork was cooked to perfection and the kids LOVED the breakfast food. We will definately be back.

  • Karri M.

Great find! I got the dungenous crab eggs Benedict A+++ My husband had the breakfast crab cakes, also A+++ their breakfast potatoes were super yummy, even perfect portion sizes. Bloody Mary's were OK, but I've had worse. Just your average mix I think. Will be back for sure, when we're in town next

  • Caitlin P.

Warm, attentive service and hearty portions in this nice local establishment! We had the BLT and barbeque brisket sandwiches - both great. Sweet or spicy sauce options for the BBQ, and all their desserts are made from scratch. Skip the chain restaurants and try Vivian's.

    (5)
  • Alison M.

My husband and I came in for breakfast. The service was friendly. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a place to get a quick meal. The interior was fine, sparse and clean. I order the Eggs Benedict, and it was really off. The hollandaise sauce was really wrong, it did not even taste like the packaged stuff. I've experienced better. I tend to be a little more forgiving with rural/costal places, perhaps it is my fault for ordering what I did. Regardless, our search for another couple breakfast joints we like continues.
